The Sydney Motorcycle Show is on again this weekend from Friday the 20th to Sunday the 22nd at Sydney’s Olympic Park.
The show will have plenty to offer the motorcycling public with in excess of 400 new motorcycles lining the exhibits of over 16 of the world’s most renowned manufacturers. Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, BMW Motorrad, KTM, Ducati, Triumph, Hyosung, Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Victory, Harley-Davidson, MV Agusta and Husqvarna will all be present to give punters a hands on look at their latest offerings.
The event provides enthusiasts an exclusive opportunity to compare features and functionality under one roof, with expert advice on hand from manufacturer representatives.
“Buying a first or upgrading an existing motorcycle is based on an informed choice,” said event manager, Mr Mark Petersen.
In total, over 120 exhibitors are confirmed to participate in the Sydney Motorcycle Show, with product and service providers set to compliment the range of new bikes. Many of to the big motorcycle accessory and apparel brands will have clearance sales which will discount close to a million dollars worth of product over three days.
Inclusive of event entry admission are a number of attractions that are sure to thrill show goers of all ages. The Yamaha Action Arena will come alive with up to five daily shows featuring the country’s leading freestyle motocross and street bike stunt riders, plus mini motocross and trials displays.
The Yamaha Showtime FMX team, featuring riders Matty McFerran, Kain Saul and Brad Burch, will bring its jaw-dropping display of aerial acrobatics to the fore. Launching up to 40 foot from the ground, the trio will pull off a stunning series of backflips, whips, no-handers and various combinations high above the precinct.
“This will be my fourth visit to the Sydney Motorcycle Show, it’s an event the whole team enjoys because we get so close to the crowd and they get such a good view,” said Mr McFerran.
Visitors to the Harley-Davidson stand can experience the ultimate Harley-Davidson Drag Race without the track on the Dyno Drag simulator.
The Dyno is a drag simulator with two running Harley-Davidson Night Rods, each mounted on a ‘dynometer’. Set up in a stage like scenario and wired to a real drag light Christmas tree which will allow riders to feel as if they’re actually racing, yet in a safe, simulated time trial.
There will also be the opportunity to test ride the new 2010 H-D models, Fat Boy Lo, Dyna Wide Glide, Electra Glide Ultra limited , Iron 883 and the XR1200X amongst others, 15 in total will be open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors will also get the chance to rub shoulders with some of its biggest identities. Three-time World Superbike (WSBK) champion Troy Bayliss will headline the guest list along with Bestselling author and film star Charley Boorman.
A powerhouse in the top-tier WSBK category for many years, Bayliss announced his retirement at the end of the 2008 season, seeing out his professional motorcycling career on top of the table.
“Troy is an incredible talent and a fantastic ambassador for the motorcycle racing and the Australians competing within it all around the world,” said Mr Petersen. “He joined us as a special guest earlier in the year on the Gold Coast and had hundreds of fans lining up for an autograph and a photo.”
Charley Boorman will be present to promote his newest book, Right to the Edge: Sydney to Tokyo By Any Means.
The Irish-born star is well known for his adventures alongside Ewan McGregor, which were documented in print and via a popular television series. In 2006, Boorman penned another bestseller, Race to Dakar.
Boorman will appear on stage as part of a podcast panel from 12.30pm on Sunday November 22. He will be discussing his latest travels and giving visitors a first-hand look at the real-life experiences behind his latest book. Following the podcast, Boorman will sign copies of his book available for purchase on the day.
Doors to Australia’s largest and most comprehensive showcase of new motorcycles and related products and services open at 10am each morning, from Friday November 20 through to Sunday November 22.
